The South Africa Chamber of Commerce in Mauritius (SACC) recently hosted a compelling breakfast meeting at Le Suffren Hotel and Marina on Thursday, 18 April 2024. Under the theme “Navigating Climate Risks and Opportunities: What It Means for Businesses,” the event brought together industry experts and thought leaders to explore the intricate relationship between climate change and business strategies.
The keynote address was delivered by Mr. Vimal Thakoor, Resident Advisor at the International Monetary Fund (IMF), specializing in Macroeconomics and Climate. Mr. Thakoor emphasized the importance of proactive strategies for businesses to address climate-related challenges while fostering sustainable growth and resilience.
Following the keynote address, a dynamic panel discussion ensued, featuring experts in the field: Julia Hawkins, Founder and Director at Hawkins Eberdal; Francesca Merlo Harel, Operations Manager at CrossBoundary Energy; and Ajay Angoteea, Head of Sustainable Finance, Absa Mauritius.
